
CLLR MAJID HUSSAIN
MAYOR OF HIGH WYCOMBE 2025 - 2026
Cllr Majid Hussain was first elected as a Buckinghamshire Councillor in 2017, representing the Booker, Cressex, and Castlefield ward. He was re-elected in 2021, and again in 2025, to serve the newly drawn Oakridge and Castlefield division—an area he has proudly called home for over 30 years.
Deeply rooted in the community, Majid is not only a long-standing resident but also a local business owner, giving him a unique insight into the everyday experiences and needs of the people he serves.
Majid grew up in High Wycombe and attended local schools, building his life and career within the very neighbourhood he now represents. His local roots have made him a familiar and approachable figure across the area, known for his dedication to grassroots engagement and practical problem-solving. Whether through his business or his council work, Majid has always placed the community at the heart of everything he does.
He has served on several key committees within Buckinghamshire Council, including:
Health and Adult Social Care Select Committee – contributing to oversight and policy on local health services and support for vulnerable adults.
Children and Education Select Committee – focusing on the educational wellbeing and safeguarding of young people.
Transport, Environment and Climate Change Select Committee – helping shape sustainable transport initiatives and environmental strategy.
Audit and Governance Committee – ensuring transparency, accountability, and strong financial stewardship within the council.
Majid has also been actively involved in direct engagement with residents. He has collaborated with Thames Valley Police on intensive neighbourhood engagement programmes, going door-to-door to address issues such as antisocial behaviour, street safety, illegal parking, and speeding. His approachable manner and ability to take practical action have helped strengthen public trust in local representation.
As a councillor, Majid has consistently advocated for investment in public services, youth programmes, and cleaner, safer streets. He works closely with community groups, religious organisations, and local schools to build strong connections and expand opportunities for residents of all ages.
In partnership with his former fellow councillor, Karen Bates, Majid forms a united and responsive team known for their hands-on approach and visible presence across the community.
Majid’s passion for public service—combined with his lived experience in Oakridge and Castlefield—continues to drive his mission: to ensure that every resident, regardless of background or circumstance, feels heard, respected, and supported.
